3S.BREAKING NFL RUMOR ALERT: Steelers HC Mike Tomlin is now being directly linked to the New York Giants’ head coach vacancy after the stunning firing of Brian Daboll.

The New York Giants fired HC Brian Daboll following a disappointing Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears, ending his four-year tenure with Big Blue. Following his departure, it didn’t take long for the football world to begin speculating who could fill his role — with the New York Post even suggesting Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike Tomlin could be one of the potential candidates.

On Monday, Ryan Dunleavy of the Post explained why Tomlin could be a perfect fit as the Giants’ new head coach — pointing to organizational ties, coupled with some playoff struggles, as a feasible argument.

“The Giants and Steelers organizations are tied together through family, so this wouldn’t be a poaching situation,” Dunleavy wrote. “But what if Tomlin and the Steelers decide their partnership has run its course after 19 seasons with no losing records (but no playoff wins since 2016)? It feels like that dance happens every offseason.”

Following the Steelers’ Week 10 blowout loss to the Chargers, the “Fire Tomlin” crowd had their torches and pitchforks ready, decrying the longtime head coach on social media.

While reports have indicated that Steelers ownership has grown frustrated with Tomlin, his contract doesn’t expire until 2027, and it’s more likely than not that Pittsburgh will allow him to play out his deal.Need a news break? Check out the all new PLAY hub with puzzles, games and more!
