GS. Final predictions for Commanders vs Cowboys: Dak Prescott knows where to attack, Jayden Daniels has playmakers despite injuries
You can expect fireworks out of the Commanders vs Cowboys game in Week 7.

The Dallas Cowboys will host the Washington Commanders for a high-stakes division matchup in Week 7. And thereâs one thing you can expect: Fireworks.
Both of these teamsâ defenses are struggling. Both are led by electric quarterbacks, who will face each other for the first time ever. And most importantly, both are hungry for a win after upset losses last week.
Our A to Z Sportsâ Cowboys (Mauricio Rodriguez) and Commanders (Josh Taylor) experts provide their analysis and predictions below, including matchups of the game, players to watch, and final predictions.
Matchup of the game
Taylor: Trey Amos vs. George Pickens. The rookie corner has been the lone bright spot in the entire secondary, and heâs getting a huge test on Sunday against one of the hottest wide receivers in the league. We know CeeDee Lamb will move around, but Iâm hoping we get to see plenty of Amos on Pickens instead of Marshon Lattimore.
Rodriguez: Mike Sainristil vs. CeeDee Lamb. Looking at the Commanders film, itâs clear Sainristil is struggling in coverage right now. Unfortunately for him, heâll be tasked with covering one of the best wide receivers in the NFL in Lamb. This is exactly the weak spot I expect Prescott to zero in on come Sunday. Though CeeDee is returning from injury, he told reporters he wouldnât be on a pitch count.
Player to watch
Taylor: Bill Croskey-Merritt. We saw how the game ended against the Chicago Bears, and Croskey-Merritt will be playing with a purpose on Sunday against a vulnerable Cowboysâ run defense. Heâs a big play waiting to happen, and a steady dose of the run game will be key to win the time of possession battle.
Rodriguez: I could give the easy answer and go with Dak Prescott here but thatâs too obvious. Give me RB Javonte Williams instead. He had a slow day in Week 6 but otherwise itâs been a Top 10 season from him. I expect the Cowboysâ physical run game to work against the Commanders defense like it did for the Chicago Bears.
Bold predictions
Taylor: Luke McCaffrey has 100 yard game and 1 TD. Heâs been developing nicely and slowly getting more production. Washingtonâs top-3 WRs are either out or playing hurt on Sunday. McCaffrey needs to get 6+ targets against the Cowboysâ secondary.
Rodriguez: Give me CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens both going for over 100 receiving yards. Itâs going to be a shootout and the Cowboys need Dak Prescottâs best if theyâre going to outscore Jayden Daniels and OC Kliff Kingsbury.
Final score predictions
Taylor: I think the Commanders stick to the run game and get the ball last with a touchdown from Jayden Daniels to Zach Ertz to close it out. This will be a shootout, and itâll come down to whoever gets turnovers, and makes the most of each red zone drive. Whatever the over is, Iâm taking it all day. Commanders 35, Cowboys 31.
Rodriguez: The Cowboys defense sucks but the offense has been nothing short of elite and now theyâre much healthier. I think Prescott edges out Daniels in a shootout while Matt Eberflusâ defense gets a surprise stop here and there taking advantage of Washingtonâs injuries. Cowboys 31, Commanders 29.
