RM Chiefs’ Rookie Left Tackle Josh Simmons to Miss Extended Time After Suffering Fractured Wrist in Loss to Cowboys

The Kansas City Chiefs have suffered a significant blow to their offensive line, as rookie left tackle Josh Simmons is now sidelined indefinitely due to a dislocated and fractured wrist. This injury occurred during the Chiefs’ Thanksgiving Day loss to the Dallas Cowboys, which saw them fall to a 6-6 record for the season.
According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Simmons, 22, was seen leaving AT&T Stadium with his wrist in a cast, and he is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday to further assess the damage and discuss potential treatment options. The young tackle, a 2025 first-round draft pick, had already missed four games earlier this season due to a personal issue, but had managed to start the remaining eight games for Kansas City. His absence will now create a major hole on the offensive line moving forward.
In addition to the loss of Simmons, the Chiefs’ Thursday night defeat also saw other key injuries. Right tackle Jawaan Taylor suffered an elbow injury during the game, while safety Bryan Cook was forced to exit with an ankle injury. As a result, the Chiefs’ depth will be severely tested over the coming weeks, as they may have to rely on backup offensive linemen like Jaylon Moore and Wanya Morris to fill in for both Simmons and Taylor.
With the Chiefs struggling at 6-6, they will need to quickly regroup if they hope to stay in playoff contention. Kansas City will now turn their attention to Week 14, where they are set to face the Houston Texans (6-5) in a crucial Sunday Night Football matchup. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will be looking to bounce back and stabilize their offense, which will now have to function without the promising rookie tackle for the foreseeable future.
