RM Patrick Mahomes Promises to Come Back “Stronger Than Ever” After Suffering Devastating Knee Injury in Playoff-Eliminating Game

BREAKING: Patrick Mahomes Suffers Torn ACL in Left Knee

Patrick Mahomes has vowed to return “stronger than ever” after a painful knee injury during the Kansas City Chiefs’ playoff-eliminating game on Sunday. The Chiefs’ loss to the Los Angeles Chargers not only ended their playoff hopes but also marked a major blow to Mahomes’ season.

In the aftermath of the defeat, the 30-year-old quarterback took to social media to share an emotional message with his fans and supporters.

“Don’t know why this had to happen. And not going to lie, it hurts,” Mahomes began in his tweet.

He went on to express his determination, saying, “But all we can do now is trust in God and attack every single day over and over again. Thank you to Chiefs Kingdom for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out with prayers. I’ll be back stronger than ever ⏰.”

The injury occurred at Arrowhead Stadium during the Chiefs’ home game, when Mahomes was hit by a Chargers defender. He was knocked to the ground and remained on the field for several moments before being assisted to the sideline, limping with obvious pain.

This loss marks a significant moment for the Chiefs: it’s the first time since 2014 that the team won’t be participating in the playoffs. The Chiefs had made it to the Super Bowl in both 2024 and 2025, winning the former and losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the latter.

Despite the setback, Mahomes’ determination to recover is clear. He has three remaining games in the 2025 regular season, with the next one scheduled for December 21.

Mahomes also shared his thoughts on cherishing the time he has left with his close friend and teammate, tight end Travis Kelce. Speaking about Kelce’s potential retirement, Mahomes expressed how much he values their time together on the field.

“Every season I’ve had with him over the last few years, I try to savor it because you never know,” Mahomes said during a press conference on December 8, following a tough loss to the Houston Texans.

Referring to Kelce’s efforts this season, Mahomes praised the 36-year-old, noting, “He’s in great shape this year and has been playing phenomenal football. He’ll have the option to do whatever he wants after this season, but I know one thing: He’ll give everything he has for the rest of the season to help us make a playoff push.”

Despite the Chiefs’ struggles this season, Mahomes acknowledged the dwindling chances of making the playoffs, but remains focused on finishing strong.

As Mahomes works to recover from his injury, both he and Kelce will be looking to give everything they’ve got in the remaining games of this season.
