kk.Let’s Hear It for Esther! 3-Year-Old from McCalla Overcomes Incredible Odds — Thrilled with Her New Glasses After Life-Changing Surgery

McCalla, Alabama – January 6, 2026
Let’s hear it for Esther Lyle — the spirited 3-year-old from McCalla, Alabama, who is beaming with joy in her brand-new glasses, a milestone that represents far more than clearer vision for this remarkable little girl.

Esther’s parents, Caleb and Hope Lyle, are overflowing with pride as they watch their daughter embrace this latest chapter in her extraordinary journey. Born with significant challenges — brain swelling, Cerebral Palsy, paralysis from the waist down, near blindness, and profound deafness — Esther has defied the odds time and again.
Miraculously, her hearing returned at 18 months old, opening a world of sound. Since then, she’s already listened to over 1,000 audiobooks, delighting in stories that fuel her vibrant imagination.

Now, Esther’s vision is improving too. Mom Hope shared an update filled with gratitude:
“Esther had an eye surgery called entropion repair that turned her bottom eyelids downward so the lashes wouldn’t scratch her eyes anymore. Swelling in her brain when she was a newborn caused her eyelids to stretch out and turn inward, causing scars on her corneas.
“Now that her bottom eyelashes are no longer constantly scratching her eyes, they aren’t red and irritated all the time and she can see better!”

The surgery wasn’t without hurdles — Esther tested positive for RSV after breathing complications post-anesthesia and spent four days at Children’s of Alabama. But she made it home just before Christmas and has recovered beautifully.
Future surgery on her upper eyelids is planned to help her open and close her eyes more easily, but for now, the family is celebrating how excited Esther is with her new glasses. “She is so much more comfortable!” Hope said.

Caleb and Hope welcome every piece of good news, cherishing each victory in Esther’s ongoing story of resilience and joy.
Esther Lyle isn’t just overcoming challenges — she’s thriving, one smile, one story, and one pair of glasses at a time.
Here’s to you, Esther — you’re a wonderful sight to see, and an inspiration to us all. 👓❤️
