kk.A Mother’s Plea: Help Save Omar’s Life.

The world of a mother is often defined by love, care, and the promise of a bright future for her child. But for Nina, the past three and a half years have been a constant battle with fear. Fear that her child, Omar, might not make it through the night, fear that his future would be taken from him too soon, and fear that she might lose him to a relentless and merciless illness. Today, Nina finds herself once again at a crossroads, and with a heart full of desperation, she is asking for help. “I can’t lose him,” she says. “Please, help my son.”

Omar is only five years old, but much of his life has been spent in hospital rooms, undergoing countless treatments and facing obstacles no child should ever have to endure. His journey began when he was just a year and a half old, and his family received a diagnosis that would change everything: retinoblastoma, a rare and aggressive cancer of the eye. It was a diagnosis that no parent is ever prepared for, a diagnosis that shattered their world.

The road to treatment began with chemotherapy. For several months, Omar endured three courses of general chemotherapy, each one a painful and exhausting process. However, despite the aggressive treatment, the tumor in Omar’s left eye refused to shrink. In fact, it persisted, growing and spreading, and with each passing day, Nina’s fear grew. Desperate, they knew they had to seek help beyond their country’s borders.

Their search for a solution led them to Switzerland, where Omar underwent five cycles of SIAHT (systemic intra-arterial chemotherapy), multiple intraocular chemotherapy treatments, and brachytherapy, a treatment that uses radiation to target the tumor directly. Each of these procedures came with pain, fear, and significant risks. But against all odds, they worked. The tumor’s growth was halted, and for the first time in years, Nina and her family dared to hope. “Today, we’re one step away from remission,” Nina says. “The word ‘remission’ sounds like a miracle.”

However, the journey is far from over. The aggressive treatments that helped stop the cancer’s progression have caused devastating side effects. Omar’s retina detached, and blood vessels in his eye have started to rupture and bleed. This bleeding is a critical concern, as it could trigger the cancer once again, undoing everything they have fought for. Doctors have made it clear: an urgent surgery is necessary to remove the retina and prevent the cancer from returning. This surgery is their only chance to safeguard Omar’s life and preserve the years of struggle, pain, and sacrifice that have already been invested in his recovery.

“We have already given everything for Omar’s treatment,” Nina explains. “But now, after so many years of medical bills, our funds have completely dried up. We can’t afford the surgery, and time is not on our side.” The urgency of the situation is overwhelming. Omar has already been through so much, but without this surgery, all of his progress could be undone. “This surgery is our only chance,” Nina says. “It is the last hope to prevent the cancer from coming back and robbing my son of the future he deserves.”

Nina’s plea is simple: she is asking for help. She is asking for the support of kind-hearted individuals who can help provide the financial assistance needed for Omar’s surgery. “Please, let’s not let cancer rob my son of his childhood again,” she says. “Let’s not let it rob him of his life.”

Omar’s story is one of immense courage, resilience, and hope. He has fought through pain and endured treatments that no child should ever have to face. But his fight is not over. His family has fought tirelessly to keep him alive, but now they need the support of others to ensure that Omar has the chance to live a full and healthy life. With the right surgery and continued care, Omar has the potential to live free from the grasp of cancer and grow up to be the happy, thriving child his parents always dreamed of.
