kk.Latest Evening Update on Hunter – Out of Surgery, Small Wins & Continued Vigil in ICU

Good evening, everyone.
Hunter is out of surgery and back in ICU (Room 4J-13) tonight. The team worked hard today, and while it wasn’t an easy few hours, there are some real steps forward worth celebrating — even if the road is still long and painful.

Right arm update: They were able to remove the wound vac completely — no skin graft needed at this stage. Instead, they applied Restora Matrix powder (a specialized regenerative wound-healing matrix that promotes tissue growth and fights infection) and wrapped the arm for about a week to protect it while new tissue forms. The surgeons are pleased with how clean the debridement went.
Left arm update: The tissue remains very fragile, and during debridement they discovered a small (5 mm) erosion/tear in the ulnar artery. Vascular surgeon Dr. Darvish placed one suture to repair it. Pulses are currently good in both hands, which is a huge relief. They will continue hourly Doppler checks tonight and move to more frequent monitoring if anything changes. If the artery shows any sign of leaking, they’ll order an immediate angiogram — but right now everything is holding steady.

Pain is still significant — Hunter is hurting a lot tonight. They’ve increased his muscle relaxer and gabapentin, adjusted his pain medication regimen, and just gave a one-time dose of IV Tylenol to help bridge the gap. They drew labs at 4 a.m. and his CK level came back at 159 (a big drop!), so they’ve discontinued those frequent checks for now.
Ortho hasn’t made rounds yet to discuss the irrigation and debridement details, so I’ll update again when we speak with them.
Hunter’s nurse Megan is taking excellent care of him — getting him settled, managing meds, and keeping everything calm in the room. He’s resting as best he can with all the monitoring lines and checks.

We’re grateful for every small victory today — the wound vac coming off the right arm, the suture holding on the left, the CK dropping, and another day of fighting behind us. But we’re also very aware he’s still in a critical window. The team is watching closely, and we’re watching right along with them.
Thank you for every prayer, every message, every share, every thought. You’re carrying us more than you know.
Hunter says thank you — he’s hurting, but he’s still here, still fighting.
We’ll update tomorrow with whatever the teams tell us.

Rest if you can tonight, Hunter. We love you. We’re still right here — every hour, every heartbeat, every hope.
Goodnight, brother. ❤️🙏
