Expanding The Star in Frisco is seen as a critical step in maintaining the Cowboys’ competitive edge and further solidifying their presence in the city.

However, this plan has faced opposition from Governor Greg Abbott, causing disappointment within the Cowboys’ fan community.

Jerry Jones shared: “We are committed to investing in the community and the people of this city. This new project will create many jobs and help many people. But perhaps, we will have to wait for the state to approve this plan before we can move forward.”

The plan was submitted in late 2025, with construction expected to begin in the summer of 2026 and complete by the fall of 2029.

However, Governor Greg Abbott’s response has left the Cowboys’ community frustrated. He raised concerns about the cost and practicality of the project.

Abbott expressed concern that investing heavily in sports infrastructure, while lacking viable options for other important projects, may not be the wisest approach.

“The community needs clarity from the new owners about the future of the team,” Abbott shared regarding his concerns about the plan.

The governor’s reaction has sparked frustration among Cowboys fans. They believe rejecting this expansion plan is unfair to the team, especially considering the potential benefits it could bring to the community.

While expanding The Star in Frisco is necessary for keeping the Cowboys competitive, Abbott’s response has caused uncertainty within the Cowboys’ community.

Cowboys fans worry about the team’s future if the right investment in infrastructure and development projects isn’t made.

The Star in Frisco is a crucial part of the Cowboys’ operations, and this expansion will help the team continue to thrive.

With Abbott’s opposition, Cowboys fans will continue to follow the situation closely and hope for a positive outcome for the team and the community.

They hope that these decisions will bring long-term growth and success to the Cowboys in the coming years.
