bv. KELLY RIPA & MARK CONSUELOS CLASH ON LIVE TV AFTER HER ‘AIRPORT DIVORCE’ JOKE — “NOT COOL,” HE SNAPS

Ripa accused her husband of getting “irritated” with her on travel days, while Consuelos insisted, “I don’t get irritated.”

If you ever bump into Kelly Ripa at the airport, don’t expect to see Mark Consuelos by her side.

The married cohosts of Live With Kelly and Mark bickered for several minutes on Wednesday’s episode of their daytime talk show when Ripa brought up the topic of an “airport divorce,” which she later defined as a situation in which “We arrive at the airport and we intentionally part ways until we meet up” on the plane.

“I want to run this by you — I think we could do well with this, an airport divorce,” Ripa told her husband. “You and I have different traveling philosophies, different traveling styles.”

Consuelos seemed a little confused. “What do you mean? Like, I walk fast in the airport?” he asked.

“No, I just feel like you need to get there between four and 16 hours before a flight takes off,” Ripa responded.

Consuelos insisted that she was exaggerating, noting that he simply tries to arrive two hours early for an international flight and 90 minutes early for a domestic flight.

“But then you get irritated when people are like, ‘Oh my gosh, I love you on the show!’ You’re like, ‘Everybody’s noticing us here,’” Ripa said.

“I don’t say that. I don’t get irritated,” Consuelos shot back. “Don’t put that out there. I’m very nice to people. That is not, that’s not cool.”

Ripa amended her accusation. “You are very nice to people, but you get irritated with me,” she clarified.

“No, I don’t get irritated with you,” Consuelos said. “I’m irritated with you right now for trying to throw me under the bus!”

Ripa then recalled a divisive incident in which her husband’s TSA Pre-Check lapsed, while hers was still active, prompting her to make the difficult decision to stick with Consuelos in the regular security line rather than using her expedient privilege alone.

“So what I did was I stood in line with him, but the line was too slow, and he got irritated with me,” she recalled. “And I said, ‘No no no, this isn’t the part where you’re irritated with me ’cause your line is too long. This is the part where you say, ‘Thank you, honey. I’m sorry I’m making you wait in this line with me.’”

Consuelos was flabbergasted by his wife’s telling.  “You know, it’s funny. You go through life, 30 years, you know somebody, right? And then they tell a story, it’s like, ‘Who are you?’” he said. “Because I was there, and obviously she was there, but the perspective is so different. And that’s the beauty.”

Ripa questioned her husband’s memory. “So you weren’t irritated at all?” she asked. “You were happy as a clam? You were happy and this is not my problem at all?”

Consuelos tried to set the scene. “There was a fork in the road,” he said. “You go left, or you go right. I wanted to go right, and you kinda just nudged me to the left, I’m like, ‘Okay great.’”

Ripa rejected Consuelos’ recollection. “Untrue. This is not true. You know where my line was?” she asked. “My line was straight ahead where the people sailed through, because they still had their TSA privileges, and they walked on through. But now I’m with Mark, so my shoes are coming off, and everything has to be taken out of my bag. Everything. I am being violated in this line, and Mark is still irritated with me.”

The couple eventually moved on to discuss the wonders of drive-through car washes, though the airport debacle resurfaced during an interview with Allison Williams later in the show.
