bv. Steelers Re-Sign Veteran Linebacker Two Months After Release Following His Relentless Fight to Return

The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially re-signed a familiar face at linebacker, adding depth and leadership to their defensive unit ahead of the second half of the season.

After being released two months ago as part of roster adjustments, the veteran linebacker continued to train in Pittsburgh, refusing to sign elsewhere as he focused on earning another chance with the black and gold. His perseverance and quiet determination finally paid off this week when the team decided to bring him back.

Coaches have praised his attitude and commitment, noting that his familiarity with the defensive scheme and work ethic made him an easy choice to rejoin the roster. “He never stopped showing up,” one staff member said. “He wanted to prove that this is where he belongs.”

That player is Mark Robinson, the veteran linebacker known for his physical play style and relentless effort on special teams and defense.

Robinson was drafted by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft and has spent time on the team’s active roster and practice squad, before being released at the start of the 2025 seasons.

In his first three seasons with the team he played in 38 games, starting four. He has recorded 34 tackles, 23 of them solo stops, one tackle for a loss, one sack and two forced fumbles.

Robinson played in all 17 games in 2024, starting two of them, while mainly seeing time on special teams. In 2023 he also played in all 17 games, with two starts. He recorded 25 tackles, 19 of them solo stops, one quarterback hit, one tackle for loss and one forced fumble.

Speaking after the signing, Robinson shared an emotional message about his return:

“It’s been a long two months. I never lost faith. Pittsburgh is home to me, and I promised myself I’d do whatever it takes to wear this jersey again. I’m grateful to the coaches for believing in me, this time, I’m not taking a single day for granted.”

Robinson’s return brings a veteran presence back into the linebacker room, adding experience and toughness to a group that’s battled through injuries this season. His journey back to the team serves as a reminder of the Steelers’ culture, built on resilience, loyalty, and never giving up on family.
