RM Jimmy Kimmel Cancels Show Last Minute Due to ‘Personal Matter’ as Celebrity Guests React

Jimmy Kimmel unexpectedly called off Thursday night’s taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! just moments before it was set to begin, citing a “personal matter.”

Singer Madison Beer, who had been scheduled to perform as the evening’s musical guest, broke the news on X (formerly Twitter).
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, @jimmykimmellive had to postpone my performance originally planned for tonight. We’ll be rescheduling for a future date,” the artist wrote, only minutes before airtime.

Stranger Things actor Joe Keery had also been set to appear on the episode.

According to Deadline, the abrupt cancellation was connected to an issue involving Kimmel himself. Instead of the planned episode, ABC aired a rerun from October 28.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! typically films at 4:30 p.m. PST, Monday through Thursday, with each episode airing later that night at 11:35 p.m.

Audience members reportedly received an email explaining the sudden change. A screenshot of the message, which later surfaced on Reddit, read:
“Tonight’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live has been postponed. Apologies for any inconvenience. We will contact you to reschedule for a future taping. Thank you.”

Fans quickly voiced their concern online, noting that Kimmel has rarely missed an episode since the show premiered in January 2003. They also pointed out that the show’s official Instagram account had posted content earlier that same day without mentioning any cancellation.

This marks the second disruption for Jimmy Kimmel Live! in recent months. Less than two months ago, ABC temporarily suspended production after Kimmel faced backlash for controversial remarks about conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s fatal shooting.

Following a brief hiatus and widespread support from fans and celebrities alike, the show returned to air on September 22. Upon his return, Kimmel grew emotional, pledging to continue defending free speech despite the controversy.
