RM Chiefs Pass Rusher Pops Up on Injury Report Unexpectedly as Kansas City Gears Up for Key Clash vs. Broncos

By NFL Trending News Writer

The Denver Broncos have stormed out to an impressive 8-2 record in the 2025 season, tying for the best mark in the AFC. Much of their success can be credited to a dominant defense — one that leads the NFL in sacks (46) and ranks third overall in total defense.

Offensively, Denver has been fairly average. Their ground game has carried the load, while the passing attack continues to lag behind.

Second-year quarterback Bo Nix has posted respectable numbers with 2,126 passing yards and 18 touchdowns, but he’s also tied for third-most interceptions (8) in the league and is completing just 60% of his passes. Deep throws have been a particular issue, as Nix ranks near the bottom of the league in downfield efficiency (per Joe Rowles).

Andy Reid’s Take on Bo Nix

Despite the ups and downs, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid isn’t overlooking Nix ahead of their divisional matchup.

“He’s doing a nice job of understanding what Sean (Payton) wants from him and executing that,” Reid said. “That’s what you ask of your quarterback — to master the system and elevate the guys around you. He’s handled that well.”

Reid also noted that a bit of regression is typical for second-year quarterbacks, as defenses start to gather film on them.

“They all go through some of that,” Reid continued. “But at the end of the day, he’s still winning games — and that’s what matters most. Once teams adjust, it’s on the quarterback to keep improving. Some figure it out and have long careers; others don’t. Bo’s still learning and seeing new challenges, but he’s a talented young guy.”

Nix may be in a slump statistically, but his playmaking potential remains a threat. After facing criticism in recent weeks, he’ll be eager to rebound. For Kansas City, generating consistent pressure on Nix will be key — something the Chiefs have struggled with at times this season. If they fail to rattle him, the young Broncos quarterback could make them pay.
