GS. Dallas BOMBSHELL: Cowboys got what they wanted from Eagles (but it came with pain)

The Dallas Cowboys got a lot of help during their bye week, and that goes beyond the NFC playoff picture. Four of the five teams in front of them in the Wild Card race all lost, including the Packers, which bolstered the Cowboys’ position in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Of course, the Packers’ loss was a double-edged sword since it came against the Eagles, who improved to 7-2 and into the top spot in the conference. In doing so, they have all but wrapped up the NFC East crown. It would take a historic collapse and Dallas to potentially run the table in the final eight weeks for the Cowboys to even make Philadelphia sweat.

Simply put, the Cowboys were in a brutal position in Eagles-Packers on Monday night. They got a big favor from their division rival, but the win vaporized any hope of winning the division. And to make matters worse, it cemented Philly — yet again — as arguably the team in football.

Eagles did the Cowboys a big favor in Week 10, but it still came with pain

Of course, the Cowboys have nobody but themselves to blame for only having a 5.3 percent chance to make the playoffs.

The additions of Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson, coupled with some key players returning from injury, could make the second half of the year interesting, but the vast majority of Cowboys fans view the final eight games as an evaluation for 2026. With two first-round picks and ample cap space to fix the defense, Dallas should be back in contention next year.

The Eagles came through in a big way by beating the Packers. But it says a lot that the Eagles dishing out a favor is intertwined with them reasserting themselves as the Super Bowl favorite. It can never be the best of both worlds. Not with Nick Sirianni’s Eagles.

The sickening part is that Philly’s offense was inept for basically the entire game. They finished with less than 300 yards of offense while ranking 27 of 28 teams that played in Week 10 with a 33.3 percent offensive success rate. And it didn’t matter because their defense played lights out, which was the biggest takeaway.

It certainly helped that Packers head coach Matt LaFleur called a maddeningly conservative game, but the Eagles flew around all night. Trade-deadline pickup Jaelan Phillips made an immediate impact, and the return of Nolan Smith helped awaken a previously dormant pass rush.

It’s ultimately better for the Cowboys in 2026 that Green Bay lost, but the Eagles look like they’re hitting their stride at the perfect time. As much as he’s trying, not even A.J. Brown’s toxicity can derail their mojo right now.
