After six weeks of struggle that saw them ranked among the NFL’s worst defensive units, the Dallas Cowboys are finally seeing glimmers of hope. Their Week 7 victory over the Washington Commanders not only provided a positive result but also showcased a marked improvement in defensive performance, featuring sacks, turnovers, and a pick-six from DaRon Bland.

And as owner Jerry Jones had insisted, tangible reinforcements are now on the horizon. The most significant news comes in the form of two key players: linebacker DeMarvion Overshown and cornerback Shavon Revel.
Overshown, expected to be a breakout star for the defense, has officially had his 21-day practice window opened and is projected to return following the team’s bye week in early November. Prior to his injury, he was posting impressive numbers with 90 tackles, 5 sacks, and 1 interception.
Simultaneously, Shavon Revel—the Cowboys’ 2025 third-round draft pick—is also set to have his practice window opened on Wednesday. Revel, recovering from an ACL tear, has expressed complete trust in his knee and readiness to get on the field. At the time of the draft, he was considered a promising addition to the cornerback room.
The return of both Overshown and Revel, if they can recapture their pre-injury form, would provide a completely new dynamic for the Cowboys’ defense. Overshown would offer versatility and playmaking ability at the linebacker level, while Revel would inject much-needed youth and talent into a secondary that has been a critical weakness.
