HH. BREAKING: Carson Wentz Speaks Out After Vikings’ Stunning Loss to Chargers — “No Excuses. Just Accountability.”
It was a rough night on October 23 for the Minnesota Vikings, who were handed a 37-10 loss by the Los Angeles Chargers on “Thursday Night Football” at SoFi Stadium.

There wasn’t much to take away for Minnesota in this one, as the team will need to assess what went wrong and quickly move on from the blowout. Once sitting at 3-2 in the 2025 NFL season, the Vikings have dropped two straight to fall to 3-4.
Despite falling below .500, veteran Carson Wentz is confident the group will bounce back heading into their Week 9 game against NFC North rival the Detroit Lions.
“I just know the guys in that locker room,”
Wentz told reporters postgame. “I know the guys; I know the coaches; I’ve still only been here for a short period of time, but I know the resolve, the resiliency, and the character of the guys in there. That gives me confidence. I know coach being the leader in this building is as positive as it gets, and I know he’ll do everything he can in his power to get us right.
“I have a lot of confidence in the guys. Hopefully we can keep getting some guys back healthy, all that stuff. This was a short week. This was a tough one. We just didn’t have it tonight. The NFL is weird. It’s hard to win, hard to be consistent. So at the end of the day, just turn the page and go attack it next week.”
Will the Minnesota Bounce Back After Loss to Chargers?
Minnesota get a few extra days to get ready for the Lions. It won’t be an easy matchup, but Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, much like Wentz, believes in the group’s ability to respond and
make a push back to .500 while staying in the NFC playoff race.
“I believe in our players, wholeheartedly,” O’Connell said (h/t Pro Football Talk).. “I believe in every opportunity we have, we’re gonna go out there and put our best foot forward, both on the practice field and every opportunity we have as a team; I think we’ll be able to get, you know, healthy in some spots here that, you know, are critical for our ability to have success.
“But once again, injuries and any other excuse if you go looking for them you’ll find them. We will not be doing that. We’re going to meet this head on as an organization. And that’s what we’re gonna do.”
Vikings Will Need to Learn From Poor Performance
There are a lot of aspects of the Vikings’ game that they will need to improve on heading into Week 9. O’Connell was straightforward about the outcome, admitting the Chargers outperformed his team in every area.
“We got outplayed,” O’Connell added. “We got outcoached; we did not — there are no excuses. Injuries, short week, whatever it is, that is not in any way, shape, or form our standard of what we want to put on the field, and we’ve got — as I told our team — we’ve got an opportunity in front of us where we need to own this.
“This is not a bury the tape kind of time for our organization. This is a ‘watch it, view it, own it’. Every coach, every player. And it starts with me. I did not have our team prepared to play.”
BREAKING: Boston Red Sox Owner John Henry Issues Strong Statement Condemning Racist Behavior Among Fans

In a powerful and unequivocal statement that has reverberated throughout MLB, Boston Red Sox owner John Henry has condemned recent reports of racist behavior among fans during home games, calling such actions “completely unacceptable, disgraceful, and wholly contrary to the values that the Boston Red Sox and our community stand for.” His remarks come in the wake of disturbing reports of racial slurs and discriminatory actions allegedly taking place in and around Fenway Park, prompting Henry to take immediate and decisive action.
“Racism has no place at Fenway Park, in Boston, or in Major League Baseball,” Henry declared, his voice firm and resolute. “These actions are not only disrespectful but also go against the very spirit of inclusivity, respect, and sportsmanship that we have built here. The Red Sox organization stands for unity and community, and we will not tolerate behavior that undermines those core values.”
Henry’s strong words follow troubling reports from the Red Sox’ recent home games, where fans were allegedly seen or heard using racist language and engaging in discriminatory behavior. These incidents have raised alarms about the persistent issue of racism in sports, and Henry made it clear that the Red Sox will take immediate steps to ensure that such behavior is eradicated.
“I’ve said this before, and I will say it again — we are a team for all people,” Henry continued. “Boston is a city that thrives on diversity and inclusivity, and that same spirit extends to our fanbase. We will not allow hatred or bigotry to be part of our game. Every fan should feel safe, respected, and valued when they come to our stadium. Anything less is unacceptable.”
To address these incidents, Henry announced that the Red Sox will be strictly enforcing the team’s Fan Code of Conduct, which explicitly prohibits hate speech, discrimination, and any actions that create an unsafe or hostile environment. He warned that any individual found engaging in discriminatory behavior would face permanent bans from attending future games at Fenway Park. Additionally, the Red Sox are working to enhance security measures and increase fan awareness of the team’s commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
“We will not turn a blind eye to this,” Henry stated. “If anyone is caught promoting hate or racism, they will be banned from the stadium permanently. This is a zero-tolerance policy. We are committed to protecting the integrity of our fan experience, and we will do whatever it takes to make sure this behavior does not have a place in our stadium or in our community.”
Henry’s swift and forceful response has drawn praise from across the league, with many applauding his leadership in confronting the issue head-on. “John Henry’s statement is a model for how team owners should respond to these issues,” said MLB analyst and former player David Ortiz. “It’s important for the leaders of organizations to take a stand and send a message that racism and hate will not be tolerated. He’s doing exactly that.”
The Red Sox organization has also pledged to work more closely with local community groups and organizations to promote inclusivity and combat racism, both inside and outside the stadium. Henry emphasized that the team’s commitment to anti-racism efforts will go beyond just enforcing policies — it will be part of a broader, long-term effort to create a more inclusive and welcoming culture for all fans.
As Major League Baseball continues to address issues of racism within its ranks, Henry’s statement serves as a crucial reminder that sports should be about unity, respect, and shared love of the game. The Red Sox are sending a clear and firm message that discrimination will never be allowed to take root in their community, and they are willing to take bold action to ensure a safe environment for all.
“We will not allow hatred or bigotry to be part of our game. Every fan should feel safe, respected, and valued when they come to our stadium.” – John Henry
With his commitment to making Fenway Park a place where racism and hate have no place, John Henry is setting an example for the rest of Major League Baseball, proving that leadership in the fight against racism begins at the top and extends throughout the entire organization.
