WASHINGTON (TNND) â In a recent conversation with conservative host Megyn Kelly, Erika Kirk shared that one of her first thoughts after learning of her husbandâs assassination was wishing she had been expecting another child.
âWhen I heard heâd been murdered, I was begging God that I might be pregnant,â she told Kelly. âIt would have felt like the one blessing that could come out of something so devastating.â
The interview took place in Glendale, Arizona, during the final stop of Kellyâs Sirius XM tour. Kelly posted several preview clips on X, with the complete discussion scheduled for release on Monday.
Erika, 37, and Charlie share two young childrenâa daughter and a son. She explained that the couple had always hoped to raise four kids together. Losing Charlie, who was killed in September while speaking at Utah Valley University, has led her to encourage young couples not to delay starting their families.
âSo now when I meet young couples, I tell them, âDonât wait. Especially if youâre a young womanâdonât postpone having children. Careers can be paused and resumed, but you canât rewind the clock on having babies, and they grow up so quickly,ââ she said. âWe were both praying for more children. Expanding our family was something we were incredibly excited about.â
Later in the interview, Erika also said she feels no hatred toward Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing her husband. She explained that harboring anger would only keep her from continuing Charlieâs work.
âThe enemy would love to see anger in my heart,â she said. âIt would only pull me away from what Charlie trusted me withâraising our kids, guiding Turning Point, supporting the team. If I held on to bitterness, the Lord couldnât use me.â
