HH. BREAKING: Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell just shared a major update on RB Aaron Jones ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Ravens — and it’s the news fans have been waiting for
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell shared encouraging news Monday on running back Aaron Jones.

Jones left Sunday’s 27-24 win over the Lions with shoulder soreness after rushing for 78 yards on nine carries and gaining another 20 yards on two catches.
“Positive news early on on Aaron Jones,” O’Connell said. “He’s sore, obviously, coming out of the game, but the evaluations have been pretty positive today. We’ll see how he does throughout the week, but (I’m) expecting him to be able to kinda hopefully ramp up his workload.”
Jones Promises to ‘Be Back Out There’
Jones, 30, missed four games earlier this season with a hamstring injury and Sunday was just his second since coming off injured reserve. In his second season with the Vikings, the former Pro Bowler has 139 yards on 27 carries to go with 79 yards and a touchdown on seven catches.
O’Connell sounded optimistic that Jones will be able to play Week 10 against the Ravens, though it’ll obviously depend on how he progresses.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero described Jones’ injury as an AC joint sprain but noted it’s believed to be “minor.”
If it’s up to Jones, he’ll be back out there.
“I’ve played through an AC before,” Jones told Reggie Wilson of Kare 11 News in Minneapolis. “I’m good. I’ll be good. I’ll be back out there.”
Vikings Have Quality Depth Behind Jones
Jordan Mason handled the bulk of work in Jones’ absence, rushing for 419 yards and four touchdowns on 98 carries. He also has 11 catches for 38 yards.
In Week 3 against the Bengals, the 26-year-old had his first 100-yard game since September 2024 when he ran for 116 yards and two scores on 16 carries.
Behind Mason on the depth chart is Zavier Scott, an undrafted free agent out of Maine who has been with the Vikings’ practice squad since last season. Scott has 69 yards on 21 carries and scored his first NFL touchdown — a 16-yard pass from Carson Wentz — in a Week 4 loss to the Steelers in Dublin.
Minnesota is 4-4.
Shedeur Sanders Provides Update on Back Strain, Shares Positive Progress in Recovery

Shedeur Sanders, quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, has provided an encouraging update regarding his recent
back strain, revealing that his recovery is progressing well and the injury is improving. Sanders, who suffered the strain during a recent game, has been focusing on rehabilitation, and he expressed confidence that he will be back at full strength soon.
“My back is feeling much better,” Sanders said in a recent interview. “The recovery process is going well, and I’m already seeing a lot of progress. I’ve been working with the medical staff, and they’ve been helping me get back to where I need to be. I’m feeling stronger each day, and I’m optimistic about the next steps.”
The injury, which had caused concern among fans and coaches alike, initially raised questions about how long Sanders would be sidelined. However, his optimistic update has reassured supporters, with Sanders expressing that the strain is no longer as limiting as it was in the days following the injury.
“I’m not fully back to 100% just yet, but it’s definitely getting better,” Sanders continued. “I’m taking it day by day, listening to my body, and making sure I don’t push it too hard. But I’m definitely feeling a lot better, and I’m focused on being ready for the next game.”
Sanders’ quick recovery has been a relief for both the Buffaloes and their fans, who are eagerly anticipating his return to the field. His leadership and skill as a quarterback have been instrumental to the team’s success, and Colorado is hopeful that he’ll be able to play at full capacity once again in the near future.
As Sanders continues to recover, his commitment to getting back to full strength and leading his team remains a top priority. “I want to be out there with my teammates and keep pushing toward our goals,” he added. “I’m excited for what’s to come and can’t wait to get back out there.”
With Sanders on the mend, Colorado fans can look forward to seeing their star quarterback back in action, continuing to build on his impressive season and helping his team compete at the highest level.
