American band The War and Treaty had NFL fans in raptures over their rendition of the national anthem on Monday night.
Thehusband-and-wife musical act were granted the honor of performing the Star-Spangled Banner ahead of the Dallas Cowboys’ clash against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football primetime.
The duo, Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter, opted for a scaled-back, spellbinding version of the anthem, with their interwoven harmonies accompanied simply by an electric guitar.
And the performance left fans in awe, with many branding it one of the best they had ever heard.
‘Had to post by “The War and Treaty” doing the National Anthem – #Chills #MNF,’ one fan wrote, reposting a clip of the group’s performance.
‘ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL RENDITIONS OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM YOU WILL EVER HEAR BY “THE WAR AND TREATY,”’ another highly-enthusiastic account gushed.

Founded in 2014, the duo were nominated for the Best New Artist and Best American Roots Song at the 2024 Grammy Awards and have also been nominated three years in a row for both Duo of the Year at the CMA Awards and Vocal Duo of the Year at the ACM Awards.
They have won two Americana Music Awards (both for Duo/Group of the Year) and have received additional nominations and recognition from CMT Music Awards, Folk Alliance International, People’s Choice Country Awards, as well as from the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry.
Before beginning his music career, Michael was a member of the US Army stationed in Iraq.
During his deployment, he was encamped in one of Saddam Hussein’s private palaces where he taught himself to play music on one of Hussein’s pianos.
The rendition left fans in raptures on social media as they praised the performance
The group’s rendition received a far more warm welcome that the performance of the national anthem ahead of the NFL’s international game in Madrid on Sunday.
The Washington Commanders faced the Miami Dolphins at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, the home of soccer team Real Madrid, in the Spanish capital as the NFL continued its global expansion.
As is custom ahead of all international games, both the United States and Spanish national anthems were performed ahead of kickoff with American singer Karina Pasian singing the USA’s before the Madrid Marine Infantry Group Band delivered the host nation’s.
However, many NFL fans were left scandalized by Pasian’s performance as they hit out at her for her choice of clothing.
The former Grammy nominee wore a short black dress with a plunging cowl neckline, thigh-high black stockings and garters, and matching gloves that stretched over her elbows.
The outfit drew ire on social media as many likened it to a ‘prostitute’ or a ‘dominatrix’ as they deemed it disrespectful to the national anthem.
