qq. Raiders Fan Arrested Before Cowboys Game After Armed Threat Outside Allegiant Stadium

Las Vegas. Just hours before tonight’s Monday Night Football showdown between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys, the atmosphere outside Allegiant Stadium was shaken by a serious security incident. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrested a Raiders fan who allegedly made an armed threat toward a group of Cowboys supporters near the stadium perimeter.
Authorities identified the suspect as Anthony B. Cortez, 29, of Henderson, Nevada. He now faces multiple charges, including felony assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, carrying a concealed firearm without a permit, and public endangerment.
The incident unfolded in Parking Lot B, where early tailgaters from both fanbases were gathering. According to witnesses, Cortez—wearing a Davante Adams jersey and appearing visibly agitated—began taunting several Cowboys fans. The confrontation escalated when he allegedly pulled a handgun from under his shirt and shouted threats, sending nearby families and fans scrambling for safety.
Stadium security reacted immediately, restraining the suspect until LVMPD arrived. Officers recovered a loaded 9mm pistol and two additional magazines from Cortez’s backpack. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
Police sealed off portions of the parking lot for about 45 minutes while reviewing surveillance footage, conducting witness interviews, and clearing the scene. The area reopened once officers confirmed there was no remaining threat.
A spokesperson for Las Vegas Metropolitan Police commended the rapid response:
“The swift coordination between stadium security and our officers prevented a dangerous situation from becoming something far worse. Fan safety remains our top priority.”
Security protocols at Allegiant Stadium were tightened for the rest of the evening, including enhanced bag checks and increased police presence at all entry points.
Despite the alarming pregame confrontation, the Raiders–Cowboys Monday Night Football matchup will proceed as scheduled. However, the arrest has cast a tense shadow over the pregame atmosphere — highlighting how intense fan rivalries can sometimes spill over into dangerous territory.
