RK Nick Sirianni’s recent decision proves the Eagles are worried about a potential late-season collapse and could address it soon
The Philadelphia Eagles are not shying away from the frustration that is crystal clear amongst their fan base. The offense doesn’t look as efficient, exciting, or explosive as a season ago, and Nick Sirianni’s decision to hand play-calling to Kevin Patullo is catching a ton of flak. Now, the head coach may be teetering on trying to prevent a late-season collapse on that side of the ball.

Eagles HC Nick Sirianni becoming more involved in offense
According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, the Eagles head coach was more involved in offensive preparations ahead of the team’s Week 14 Monday night matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. What exactly does that mean, though? Could he call plays in the future or find someone else to do so?

According to McManus, it was more so in the staff’s preparation for players, rather than on-field adjustments. Sirianni had a bigger voice in the room as the offense tries to get back on track – it appears.
“Sirianni has been more vocal in offensive meetings and has been presenting material alongside offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, sources said. According to one source, he has been addressing the group for longer than usual at the top of the meetings before ceding to Patullo, who continues to run them.” — Tim McManus, ESPN
Clearly, the murmurs from fans and media alike regarding Patullo’s play calling has also been a thought process for the head coach and potentially even the front office. There is no doubt that the coaching staff is feeling the pressure right now, with the consistent offensive struggles for much of this season.
The Eagles have lost their last two games, and neither offensive performance has been impressive in any form or fashion. The passing game feels limited, and Saquon Barkley has been bottled up. The running part of Jalen Hurts’ game is nearly nonexistent as of now. Philly has averaged 15.5 points over their last four games.
Heard the same as @Tim_McManus from various #Eagles sources:
HC Nick Sirianni got more involved in the offense this week coming off the mini bye. OC Kevin Patullo still ran offensive meetings and will retain play calling, but Sirianni was more present and heard from on that side…

The Eagles got some good news already this week when the Dallas Cowboys fell to the Detroit Lions , but they need to take care of their own business. That will not be particularly simple against a Chargers team getting running back Omarion Hampton back in the fold and expecting quarterback Justin Herbert to play.
Giants Take Crucial Step to Fix League-Worst Run Defense: ‘One Signing Won’t Solve Everything, But It’s a Start!’

The New York Giants have made a bold move in their quest to rebuild a defense that has been plagued by issues all season. After allowing an alarming number of rushing yards and ranking as the league’s worst run defense, the Giants have decided to make a change. While it may not be a quick fix, the team is confident that their latest signing is a step in the right direction.
“It’s not a quick fix, but it’s a start. We’ve been hemorrhaging yards all year, and while one signing won’t solve everything, it’s a step in the right direction. Let’s see if we can stop the bleeding,”
said a Giants defensive analyst following the announcement of the move. The signing of a familiar face to bolster the run defense is seen as a key moment for the Giants, one that shows they are committed to improving their defensive unit.

The Giants’ run defense has been one of the most disappointing aspects of their season. With opposing teams running through their defense like a hot knife through butter, it became clear that the team needed to address the issue. The new signing, though just one piece of the puzzle, is expected to bring some much-needed experience and leadership to a struggling defensive line.
However, the team and its fans know that this move won’t magically solve all of their problems. The Giants have struggled in numerous areas of defense, and it will take more than one signing to turn things around. The coaching staff will need to continue working with the players to instill discipline, improve fundamentals, and build a stronger defensive mentality.
That said, the signing marks a positive step forward for a franchise that has faced constant turmoil in recent seasons. With the team still in the playoff hunt, this defensive addition could be the catalyst for a late-season turnaround. The Giants will now need to build off this momentum, address the other issues within the defense, and focus on stopping the run — something they’ve failed to do consistently this season.
In a league where small changes can make a huge impact, the Giants are hoping this move will help them fix one of their most glaring weaknesses. As they look ahead to the rest of the season, the team is determined to take the necessary steps to turn their defensive struggles into triumphs.
