RM 1 Dead, 6 Injured in Shooting at Lincoln University During Homecoming Weekend, Police Say

A tragic shooting at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania left one person dead and six others injured late Saturday night, according to officials.

Lincoln University Police Chief Marc Partee confirmed during a press conference that the victims were transported to nearby hospitals following the incident. Authorities said one suspect has been taken into custody, though the investigation remains active.

“The scene is secure, and law enforcement is continuing to investigate,” the Chester County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement. “We urge everyone to stay away from the area.”

The shooting occurred during Lincoln University’s homecoming weekend, a major annual event for the historically Black college located about 45 miles southwest of Philadelphia and 25 miles west of Wilmington, Delaware. The campus had hosted its main football game earlier in the day.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro addressed the tragedy on social media, saying his administration has offered full support to Lincoln University President Brenda Allen and local authorities.

“I’ve been briefed on the shooting at Lincoln University tonight,” Shapiro wrote. “Please avoid the area and follow law enforcement guidance. Lori and I are praying for the Lincoln University community.”

Multiple local agencies — including the Chester County Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office, and university officials — have yet to release additional details.

This remains a developing story, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
