RM Sydney Sweeney Branded “Celebrity Poison” as Career Stumbles, Insider Claims

EXCLUSIVE: Sydney Sweeney may be losing momentum in Hollywood, according to a RadarOnline.com report that says a combination of underperforming films, backlash over a recent American Eagle commercial, and speculation about her political leanings has created a major hurdle in the actress’ career.

The 28-year-old has been the subject of criticism online, with some social media users claiming she leans conservative politically—something critics have used to explain the weak reception to several of her recent projects.

‘Overexposed and Underloved,’ Expert Suggests

Public relations specialist Crystal Gorges told RadarOnline that Sweeney’s current struggles go beyond one controversial ad or rumors surrounding her political views.

“At the moment, Sydney Sweeney feels overexposed and underloved,” Gorges said. “The problem isn’t a single bad campaign. It’s that a segment of the audience has decided they don’t like her vibe, and she hasn’t shifted the narrative.”

According to Gorges, the actress is coming across as “defensive” and “disconnected,” which she described as “celebrity poison.” Some viewers, she said, see Sweeney as “entitled” and “trying far too hard.”

A Possible Path to Redemption

Despite the harsh criticism, Gorges believes Sweeney can still revive her public image.

“She can’t fix this with a simple statement,” Gorges explained. “She needs a likability reset. She has to show humility, humor, and give people a reason to cheer for her again.” Gorges suggested that taking on a role that goes against her usual type—or something that shows a willingness to take risks—could help shift public opinion.

The expert also advised Sweeney to steer clear of political controversies entirely. “People are watching to see whether she melts down or breaks through. If she wants the audience back on her side, she needs to stop acting like the current ‘it girl’ and start showing that she knows she has something to prove.”

Sweeney’s image took another hit following her American Eagle advertisement, which some online critics labeled “racist” and even compared to “Nazi propaganda.” In the clip, Sweeney buttons up a pair of jeans while explaining, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color.”
