RM Sydney Sweeney Denies Plastic Surgery Rumors, Slams Social Media Critics: “Everyone on Social Media is Insane”

Sydney Sweeney is once again addressing the ongoing rumors surrounding her appearance, setting the record straight once and for all. In a recent interview with Allure alongside her The Housemaid co-star Amanda Seyfried, the 28-year-old actress firmly denied ever having any cosmetic procedures.
In the video, Sweeney was asked to debunk a beauty rumor, and she chose to clear up the speculation about plastic surgery. “I’ve never had work done,” she stated emphatically, adding, “I’m terrified of needles, you have no idea.”

The Euphoria star went on to criticize social media users who frequently compare her past and present photos. “You can’t compare a picture of me at 12 to one taken when I’m 26, especially with professional makeup and lighting. Of course, I’ll look different!” she said, taking aim at the online critics. “Honestly, everybody on social media is insane,” she added.
Meanwhile, Seyfried chimed in, noting that cosmetic procedures can sometimes be helpful as people age. “When you do—,” Seyfried began, but Sweeney quickly interrupted, laughing, “I’ll call you.”
Seyfried jokingly offered, “I’ll give you some Ativan, and you’ll be so excited,” but also reassured Sweeney, “You don’t need it yet.”

The conversation wrapped up with Sweeney addressing the rumors once again. She assured viewers that even if she ever did opt for cosmetic work, her face would still remain “even.” “Not that it’s uneven,” Sweeney clarified, which prompted Seyfried to ask, “Is it uneven?” In response, Sweeney shared a personal detail: a childhood wakeboarding accident left her with a slight asymmetry in her eyes, revealing that one opens slightly more than the other due to 19 stitches she had to get from the injury.
Seyfried responded supportively, saying, “I don’t see it, but there’s definitely an art to it,” before discussing how cosmetic work, when done appropriately, is not about overdoing it. “You can’t just get work done everywhere, like some people do,” Seyfried added.

This fall, in a separate interview with Variety, Sweeney reflected on criticism she faced regarding her appearance from a young age. She recalled how, at just 16, someone suggested she should get Botox to fix her face in order to make it in the industry. “I’ve never had anything done,” Sweeney reaffirmed in that interview. “I’m terrified of needles. No tattoos, nothing. I plan to age gracefully.”

Sydney Sweeney’s candidness about her approach to aging and appearance, as well as her firm stance on never having undergone cosmetic procedures, serves as a message to her critics: she’s comfortable with who she is and doesn’t feel the need to change.
