RM Turning Point USA Chapter Denied Official Recognition by Loyola University New Orleans Student Government

Loyola University New Orleans’ Student Government Association (SGA) has rejected a request from students seeking to establish an official chapter of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) on campus.
According to The Maroon, Loyola’s student newspaper, “Breaking: Turning Point USA was denied the ability to charter as an organization affiliated with Loyola University New Orleans at the Oct. 15 Student Government Association senate meeting.”
Because of this decision, the proposed TPUSA chapter will not have access to university resources such as reserving campus spaces for events or official funding opportunities.
A report from Fight Back! News—a Milwaukee-based, left-wing publication that openly states it is “not neutral or even-handed” in its coverage—appears to have attended the October 15 SGA senate meeting, where senators voted against granting the group official status.
Under Loyola’s student organization policy, any five or more students can apply to start a campus club. Once the application meets preliminary requirements, the SGA vice president forwards it to the senate for review, during which student founders appear for a Q&A session before a final vote.
At the meeting, some students argued that Turning Point USA’s values conflict with Loyola’s Jesuit Catholic principles. Freshman Rosalina Framboise reportedly stated, “Loyola University New Orleans, and our Jesuit community as a whole, have prided themselves on the core values of Saint Ignatius and the Society of Jesus. Turning Point USA, its leaders, and many of the figures they support stand in direct opposition to those values.” She cited statements allegedly made by TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, such as “queer people are trying to corrupt your children” and “transgenderism and gender fluidity are lies that hurt people and abuse kids,” as evidence.
Another unnamed student claimed that both Kirk and TPUSA promote “hate towards Hispanics.”
Although the Catholic Church officially does not support same-sex marriage or transgender ideology, Loyola emphasized that its student governance process remains peer-led and democratic.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Loyola explained:
“At Loyola University New Orleans, the chartering of new student organizations, including Turning Point USA, follows a student-led, peer-to-peer process administered by the Student Government Association (SGA). The SGA Senate made a recommendation to the SGA President on the proposed organization’s application for recognition, and the SGA President upheld that recommendation. Student leaders of the proposed organization have been informed of their right to appeal the decision through the SGA Court of Review, as outlined in Loyola’s Student Organization Handbook.”
The university reaffirmed its commitment to allowing the appeal process to proceed.
Turning Point USA representatives at Loyola could not immediately be reached for comment.
